Dear Faithful Readers,
THE WHEATLEY SCHOOL CLASS OF 1967 50th REUNION
The Wheatley School Class of 1967 held a 50th-Year Reunion over the weekend of May 19-21, 1967.
The festivities kicked off Friday night at a party at classmate Art Engoron’s house in Great Neck.
Photos were taken Friday and Saturday evening. They are accessible to all on Dropbox by clicking on the following link:

Also present were Art’s youngest son (Aaron) and daughter (Ashley) and dog (Molly). Amy Pastarnack Hughes donated lots of plastic eating utensils. Several classmates, including Ellen Frey Wineman and Corinne Zebrowski Kaufman, donated food. Several classmates, notably Bruce Orosz, donated wine (Bruce’s came from his own California vineyard!).
The Main Event was Saturday Night at The Wheatley Hills Golf Club (can’t beat that name) in East Williston. The following 69 Wheatley graduates and their guests attended:

Note that Bob Forte, 1965, is married to classmate Jill Simon Forte. Ray Christian, 1965, is a friend of theirs. Eva Resnicow, 1968, is a friend of various classmates. Paula Panzeca, 1969, is married to classmate Dominick Foresto.
Including tax and gratuities, the club charged approximately $95 per person. The price was set at $100. Several classmates, including Eve Brunswick, JoJo Gordon Sampson, Judy Orgel Meilinger, Richard Rasmussen (even though he was not able to attend!), Larry Weiss, and Carl Wirth, donated funds. Several people were forced by circumstance to cancel last minute and graciously did not ask for a refund. One person was granted a hardship exemption. The treasurer concluded that the event “just about broke even, which is good enough.”
The reasons people gave for not attending ran the gamut from the understandable (“I’m so sick I can hardly get out of bed.”; “My son is getting married.”) to the incomprehensible (“I’m too busy”; I’m attending my friend’s daughter’s law school graduation”; “I just don’t want to go”).
Out-of-Towners came from far and wide:

Dancing was deemed problematic because of an inadequate sound system. However, an extended “open mic” session produced some hilarious hijinks and some moving moments, the latter including Larry Baum’s tribute to our teachers and Student Government President Carl Wirth reading the following list of 24 deceased classmates:

Photos were taken Friday and Saturday evening. They are accessible to all on Dropbox by clicking on the following link:

Most of them are very high resolution and can be enlarged to excellent effect. A few, taken with smart ‘phones, are much lower resolution, but still can be enlarged successfully, up to a point. “Full Screen Mode” (usually just a click) may also aid in viewing.
Special thanks to Scott Frishman, for encouraging attendance, and to everyone who helped convince Dominick Foresto to be present at the club of which he is a member!
Taken as a whole, the weekend worked out well, and doubtless will be reprised sometime in the future.
Any corrections, additions, or deletions to this report will be considered for future distributions and an eventual posting on the alumni association website, WWW.WHEATLEYALUMNI.ORG.
